Know About Function and Older Adults?

The expectation should be that, irrespective of age, older adults are functionally independent. Of people 65 and over, only 6.2% need help with personal care. Functional dependence is higher in the very old with 22% of people 85 and over needing help with personal care as compared with 3% of people aged 65 to 74, but even in the very old, people who are functionally dependent still represent a small number of older adults. Learn more about function and older adults by visiting www.GeroNurseOnline.org and select Function from the Geriatric Topic menu.
