CNS Preceptor of the Year Award
CNS Preceptor of the Year The purpose of the award is to nationally recognize an NACNS member for outstanding professional achievement as a Clinical Nurse Specialist Preceptor. The award acknowledges a CNS preceptor who has demonstrated commitment to teach, coach and mentor CNS students to achieve CNS competencies in the nurse, patient, and organizational spheres as reflected in the NACNS Statement on CNS Practice and Education (2004).

Sharron Coffie, MS, RN, CNS-BC is an ideal preceptor who maintains a clear focus on patient outcomes and assists students in understanding how their CNS role has an impact. Ever-encouraging, the supportive and empowering environment Sharron creates promotes more independent engagement during Clinical instruction. Teaching and coaching is an integrated into interactions with patients, nurses, and students. Leadership is provided to create a positive work environment where staff and students can grow and develop and patient outcomes are achieved.
