The new CMS policy – CMS Acute Care Present on Admission (POA) Indicators / Hospital Acquired Conditions (HAC) Policy – is the most significant regulation to affect pressure ulcer care in the United States in this millennium. Concerned about the impact of these regulations on pressure ulcer care across the continuum of care, eight thought leaders in wound care came together on February 2, 2008 in Chicago to dialogue about the issues. This meeting was sponsored by an educational grant from Medline Industries, Inc. The result is the consensus paper titled:

ConsultGeriRN.org is the clinical nursing website of the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing, New York University College of Nursing and the NICHE program (Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders). ConsultGeriRN.org is an online resource for nurses in clinical and educational settings. ConsultGeriRN.org has geriatric protocols for managing common geriatric syndromes and conditions, linkage to specialty nursing associations, hospital competencies, opportunities to acquire continuing education materials and much more!  ConsultGeriRN.org is funded in part by a grant from The Atlantic Philanthropies (USA) Inc. and The John A. Online Continuing Education: Nursing Ethics Advocacy Program

This Web-based continuing education program for practicing RNs is offered by the New England Research Institutes, Watertown, MA. The development of the program was funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research of the National Institutes of Health (Grant #R44 NR05355). The program was developed by Sharon L. Tennstedt, Ph.D., RN, and Sara T. Fry, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, Editor-in-Chief" Approved CE credits available.

New England Research Institutes is an approved continuing education provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # 13253 and by the Vermont State Nurses Association, Inc., which is accredited as an Approver of Continuing Education in Nursing by the American Nurses Association Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
